When we have fresh snow on the ground we like to just spin out enough hay for a day at a time for the elk and leave the rest on the spinner on the back of the tractor. Bulls like to play with the round bale feeders and tend to move them around when they are running low of hay. If your bulls don't have antlers, round bale feeders work ok. We use a "hi qual" round bale feeder for our elk. It holds the bale in the center of the feeder and doesn't leave so much hay to waste outside the feeder. Some of our friends use round bale feed wagons. These allow them to put a couple of bales in them at a time and they can move them around the field so the elk don't make such a mess of the ground. Marty Stallings has some and would be a good source to ask.
